The Metropolitan Hall of Justice, sometimes referred to as the “Old Metro,” was designed by the architect Harold K. Beecher in the New Formalism style. Constructed in the 1960s, the structure remained in use until its demolition in 2001.

The 9-story Metropolitan Hall of Justice was constructed in the 1960s. Designed by Harold K. Beecher in the New Formalism style, the building was utilized for nearly 40 years prior to its demolition in 2001. The former site of the “Old Metro,” to which it is sometimes referred, is now the location for the Main Library of the award-winning, Salt Lake City Library.
