Operations at the Michoud Power Plant began in the 1950s and continued into the 21st century.  In 2016, the plant was decommissioned but Entergy New Orleans (ENO), the property’s current owner, is considering building a new power plant at the site.

The Michoud Power Plant was a large natural gas powered plant comprised of three generating units.  The first unit was constructed in 1957, and two additional units were added in 1963 and 1967.  The facility was originally operated by New Orleans Public Service, Inc. and was later owned by Entergy New Orleans (ENO).  The three units together had a 959.2 megawatts capacity.
