Workers have been exposed to asbestos at a large number of job sites in Louisiana.  Although there are facilities throughout the state with a history of asbestos exposure, a large portion of them are or were located along what is commonly referred to as the “chemical corridor.”  The chemical corridor is located along a 150-mile stretch of the Lower Mississippi River.  The riverbank along this portion of the river has long been lined with hundreds of industrial facilities, including chemical plants, refineries, paper mills, power plants and shipyards.  Since mesothelioma is strongly linked to asbestos exposure, workers at these sites are at risk of developing mesothelioma.
