Located on a 1,000-acre site near Huntington City and Huntington Canyon, the Huntington Power Plant is owned and operated by the Rocky Mountain Power Company (Pacificorp). The coal-burning plant’s first unit was built in 1974, followed by its second unit in 1977. Burning 3-million tons of coal from the Deer Creek Mine per year, the Huntington Power Plant is still in operation.
