At the time it was constructed in the 1950s, the Ninemile Point Power Plant was the company’s largest generating station.  The natural gas-fired facility has been modified and expanded throughout its years of operation, including Entergy’s addition of a 560-megawatt, gas-fired unit called Ninemile 6 in 2015.

Located in the unincorporated community of Ninemile Point between Westwego and Bridge City in Louisiana, the natural gas-fired facility began operating in the 1950s.  Over the years, the older units were taken off-line, and new units were added.  Additional units were added in the 1970s, 1990s and as recently as 2015 with the addition of the Ninemile 6 unit.  Louisiana Light & Power was renamed in the 1980s to Entergy.
